We are happy to share that a very successful event presenting the very freshly released EuroMemorandum 2026 titled ‘Aspects and implications of EU militarising. Alternatives for a Progressive Agenda’ was held in Vienna/Austria in late March.
ย
We thank Johannes Jรคger (Member of the Steering Committee fo EuroMemo Group; Professor and Head of the Economics Department at University of Applied Sciences BFI, Vienna) for taking the initiative on this.
ย
After a short presentation of the report Hanna Braun (ATTAC, political scientist, Vienna), Sarah Bruckner (AK, expert in European Law, Vienna) and Elisabeth Springler (head of the โEuropean Economy and Corporate Managementโ degree programme, economist, Vienna) and Claudio Cozza (Co-Chair of EuroMemo Group, Prof. of Economic Policy, Naples) have discussed the main arguments of the report:
โ๏ธthe current militarization of European economies
โ๏ธthe current resurgence of market deregulation under the heading of improving global competitiveness
โ๏ธthe linkages of both militarization and deregulation with a shift of the political axis to the right
โ๏ธthe neoliberal rather than socio-oriented EUโs response to the polycrisis
under the coordination of Florian Penz.
๐ซ A room full of young people and representatives of social partners critically discussing the most alarming trends in Europe is truly encouraging.๐ซ
๐ EuroMemorandum 2026 draws on discussions and papers presented at last yearโs conference held in Athens.
