Maria Karamessini is a Professor of Labour Economics and Economics of the Welfare State and the Director of the Centre for Gender Studies of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Athens, Greece). She has been the President of the Network of Careers Offices of Greek Universities (2001-2008), the President and Governor of the Public Employment Service of Greece (2015-2019), a member of all official European Commission groups of experts on gender, employment and equality policy (1997-2014) and an independent expert and researcher in ILO projects on income inequalities, industrial relations and employment policy (2009-2014). She is currently the scientific responsible of a research project on “Elderly care in the face of demographic ageing: The challenges of inclusiveness and gender equality”.
